If you depend on the Internet on a daily basis in
your office, you would be better off if you include
the Vigor2930VS of Draytek into your local network.
This router makes sure that in one way or the other,
the connection to the outside world is always kept:
This small box has two WAN-ports which allow fallback
as well as load balancing in case the up- or downstream
of the DSL access is exhausted to the extreme. In
addition, it is possible to define load balancing
policies for individual IP address areas and ports.
And if both broadband connections would fail at the
same time, you can still access the Internet via ISDN
using one or two B channels. And since the Vigor is
already connected to the telephone network it can
be used as an ISDN telephone system as well, of which
the end devices can also use VoIP. The integrated
firewall of the router needs to be thoroughly configured.
But whoever does not mind this effort gets a very
effective protection against potential dangers from
the Internet as well as against misuse of the Internet
connection from the internal LAN of the router. You
can, for example, block services such as Instant Messenger
or even complete P2P networks. Furthermore, the Vigor
2930VS also supports the secure access from outside
into the LAN through VPN as a VPN server. In addition,
it is possible to configure virtual networks (VLAN).
The router is affordable for small companies but without
the necessary technical knowledge about its numerous
functions it is very difficult to configure. (by

Product" prize, during the last test of ADSL
routers, carried out in the Labs of PC World Magazine
in Greece. The results of the test, which were published
in the magazine's June issue, show that Vigor2600G

Slovakia too and people are asking for integrated
products with beneficial functionality.
Router we tested comes from Vigor2600 series, which
contains wide supply of modems.Differences of individual
routers are in wireless technology or ISDN adapter.
The accessories of modem we tested have ADSL, USB,
RJ-45 and also two FXS adapters for VoIP. The only
thing what?s missing is ISDN adapter. Good news
is presence of two adjustable antennas, which ensure
good propagation of sygnal, and doesn?t have a
problem with thicker walls. Setting ADSL is easy also
for less known users because of products auto-installation
function ?all you have to do is type in the name and
password.
The function VoIP, which Vigor2600 offers works on
the same procedure. Difference is in technique of
continuation connection. It is possible to connect
two phones and establish contact without any software.
It is enough if you set up to every station IP address,
name and number serving for quick choice of user.

At this point there are some doubts on Forrester's
appraisal: first that price in Italy is reacheable
